Genuise Cake Ingredients

To make a Genuise cake, you first need to clean the work area and organize the ingredients. This is because the ingredients must be separated for each component of the cake.

  • 7 tablespoons sifted flour

  • Optional: 1 Tablespoon unflavored gelatin

Icing

It doesn't matter if you have icing or not when making a Genuise cake. In fact, you may have seen that some recipe books contain icing, but not others. Cakes with icing are tastier, but keep in mind that they increase calorie content .

However, calorie consumption is not that important compared to the total calories in the cake. To add icing, you need the following ingredients.

  • Sugar (according to preference)

  • Preheat oven to 180°C.
  • Separate the egg white from the yolk . Put the yolk in a separate container as you will need it later.
  • Whisk the whites until the white foam is soft. Depending on your preference, you can use a spatula to whisk the egg whites instead of using a beater. In most cases, beaters cause the mixture to lose porosity, but this is not a big difference. If you like, please try the two and let me know if there are any differences.
  • While stirring, add the first yolk and then add 1 tablespoon of sugar. Continue stirring until completely dissolved.
  • Continue adding until you have finished adding the yolk and sugar.
  • Add 7 tablespoons of flour and 1 tablespoon each.
  • Before adding the flour, make sure that the previously added flour has melted well.
  • Use a spatula to remove the dough from the edges and continue to stir the dough so that the eggs do not lose volume.
  • Butter and sprinkle flour on a round cake pan. It is best to use a cake pan with a separate bottom.
  • Pour the dough into the cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Stick a knife through the cake. If the dough doesn't come out, you're done.

Cake syrup

You can make syrup while baking the cake in the oven. This part is easy. The process is as follows.

  • Put condensed milk, unsweetened condensed milk, and cream in a blender.
  • Mix until uniform.
  • When the cake is hot, pour 3/4 of the syrup on top (the remaining 1/4 is stored and poured over the cake slices when serving).
  • The syrup is completely absorbed by sticking the cake on 4 sides.
  • If you don't add icing, let it cool and store in the refrigerator for 2 hours before serving.
  • If you have stored the remaining 1/4 of the syrup, instead of pouring it into pieces, you can add 1 tablespoon of unflavored gelatin, pour it over the entire cake, and store it in the refrigerator.

Cake icing


If you thought it was easy to make syrup, making icing is just a bite. To decorate the cake with icing, remove it from the pan and place it on a large plate.

  • Add 3 egg whites to a bowl and stir until the foam is soft.
  • Add the sugar little by little and continue stirring until it reaches a certain consistency.
  • Decorate the cake with icing.
  • Keep in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
